If you’ve ever worried about wasting money on the wrong gear, felt uncertain about what you’ve forgotten, or ended a hike more exhausted than you should be, then this is for you.

I help hikers confidently take on longer, more challenging hikes by turning anxiety into a dialled-in system. After 34 years guiding and hiking Tasmania’s toughest trails, I’ve seen how most mistakes start with the same issues: fragmented prep, bad gear choices, and inefficient packing.

Here’s how I and now, dozens of my viewers, turn “hope for the best” into real hiking confidence:

  • Start training 4–6 weeks out: Weighted pack, real hills, and trail practice—don’t just jog the block.

  • Plan routes with buffer days and alternate campsites: no more “forced marches” or panic-camping.

  • Test every piece of gear in real conditions: Boots, tents, and stoves—use them before you trust them for a lengthy period.

  • Plot your calories and water sources: ditch the “just in case” food overload and hike light but strong.

  • Print your logistics & safety checklist and leave a copy with a friend - over your bases, not just your pack.

You don’t need luck or another expensive gadget. You need a system - one that grows with you, covers every base, and leaves nothing to chance.

That’s why I built the TRAILS Framework:
Training, Route, Appropriate Gear, Intake (Food & Water), Logistics, and Safety.
Every pillar works together to keep your hikes smoother, lighter, and way more enjoyable - from your first step to the last.

If you want to start learning how to apply the TRAILS Framework, just keep an eye out for upcoming videos and newsletter posts. I’ll be sharing easy steps you can use to upgrade your system one pillar at a time. In the meantime, this video here is a good place to start.
