Build Your Ultimate Trail Mix (Here's How):
â
Step 1: Choose Your Protein & Healthy Fats
(Keeps you feeling full and energized longer.)
Almonds or cashews
Nut-free? Opt for pumpkin, sunflower, chia, or hemp seeds
â
Step 2: Add Grains for Sustained Energy
(Complex carbs prevent sugar crashes.)
Roasted chickpeas
Puffed quinoa
Toasted oats
â
Step 3: Sprinkle in Dried Fruit for Quick Energy
(Natural sugars give an instant, healthy boost.)
Raisins, apricots, mango, cranberries
â
Step 4: Boost Flavor & Healthy Fats with Coconut
Unsweetened coconut flakes slow digestion for sustained fuel.
â
Step 5: Customize With Fun Add-Ons
(Keep things interesting without unnecessary fillers.)
Dark chocolate chunks
Freeze-dried berries (I love blueberries)
A pinch of cinnamon or spice

đĽ Hereâs my current mix that Iâve been taking on every trip
I mix all of these in roughly equal proportions and then allow for around 150grams per day, sometimes more.
Macadamias, almonds and cashews (I am a big macadamia fan)
Roasted chickpeas, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds
Raisins, dehydrated mango
a sprinkle of coconut flakes
freeze dried blueberries
some small broken up pieces of dark chocolate
a sprinkle of peanut M&Ms
I make around 1.5kg of this up for a 10 day trip and measure it out into individual bags. I normally have a little left over that I then have as a snack at home. Itâs delicious!
